Greener, step by step
ECO3 recognizes that its global manufacturing operations come with an environmental footprint and a responsibility to address it. Gaining a clear understanding of our emissions is the first step toward greater transparency and meaningful improvements to reduce our environmental impact.
To support transparency and enable our customers to make informed choices, ECO3 commissioned an independent carbon footprint assessment of our offset printing plates. Conducted by Telusio and based on the GHG Protocol and ISO 14067, the study offers clear insights into the environmental impact of our plates—from raw material extraction to delivery to the customer.
ECO3 invests in clean air technology in its German offset plate production plant
On July 1, 2025, ECO3 celebrated important milestones in the construction of a new Regenerative Thermal Oxidizer plant for thermal exhaust gas purification at its facility in Wiesbaden, Germany.

Shifting to aqueous flexo systems
ECO3 is forging the path forward in the packaging and label industry with our advanced water-based flexographic technologies. Our Aqueous Total Flexo System enables customers to reduce their environmental impact while maintaining the high quality and performance they depend on.
Saving on ink with SPIR@L
Traditional printing inks often contain harmful substances that contribute to pollution. However, with ECO3’s innovative SPIR@L screening technology, printers can reduce ink usage while enhancing print quality. This innovative screening solution delivers immediate savings for both the environment and your budget.

Arkana smart processing
The ECO3 Arkana processor is designed to completely eliminate rinse water and optimize chemistry use, helping customers get the most out of every cycle. With its continuous smart monitoring of consumption levels, it minimizes waste and delivers significant savings on both water and chemistry compared to conventional processors.
Net of Aluminum (NoA)
Aluminum is a highly recyclable material, and through its NoA program, ECO3 ensures that used plates are collected and reintroduced into the aluminum value chain, serving new industrial and consumer applications. This closed-loop approach contributes to a more circular and environmentally responsible aluminum economy.
Ecolabel certification
Our products are developed to meet the stringent environmental and safety criteria of leading ecolabels, including UZ24 (Austrian Ecolabel), Blue Angel and Nordic Swan. These certifications reflect our commitment to sustainability, product safety, and reduced environmental impact.
GreenWorksSM accreditation
Through GreenWorksSM, an ECO3 North America initiative, we recognize and accredit customers in the graphic communications industry across the United States and Canada who achieve greener outcomes by adopting sustainable technologies, products, services, and practices.
Integrating Internet of Things (IoT) for smarter, more efficient services
The future of printing is shaped by Industry 4.0, where data, connectivity and smart automation drive performance. That is why ECO3 has embedded automation and IoT (Internet of Things) into its systems, giving customers a faster, smarter, and greener service experience.
Traditionally, a repair required two service visits: one to diagnose the problem and another to fix it. With IoT, ECO3 engineers can access live sensor data remotely, diagnose issues instantly and order parts in advance, allowing service engineers to complete the job in a single visit. The result: reduced downtime and happier customers.
The impact is significant: In 2024 alone, ECO3 helped European customers avoid 50,000 hours of machine downtime compared to 2022. Fewer interruptions mean production stays on track, costs remain under control, and presses continue running smoothly. Additionally, by reducing unnecessary trips, ECO3 cut approximately 15 tons of CO₂ emissions: a measurable benefit for both efficiency and the environment.
ECO3 is going even further. Predictive maintenance now uses advanced analytics to calculate spare part lifetimes in real time. Engineers are alerted before a failure occurs, enabling proactive replacements during the next visit and preventing breakdowns altogether.
Smaller footprint, greater impact
Incorporating eco-design principles during the R&D phase for our products is an important step, but taking responsibility during the production process is equally critical. Therefore, in our manufacturing processes, we prioritize minimizing our environmental footprint by applying sustainable practices wherever possible.
Energy saving projects
ECO3 is committed to reducing energy consumption across all manufacturing sites. To ensure ongoing performance improvements, we have implemented an energy management system certified to ISO 50001 standards. This system emphasizes continuous enhancement of energy efficiency—a standard ECO3 has consistently met for many years.
Responsible raw material sourcing
Our ambition is to build a responsible supply chain by partnering with suppliers who share our sustainability values, prioritizing those who take measurable steps to reduce carbon emissions and invest in cleaner production technologies.

Our manufacturing sites worldwide are certified under ISO 50001:2018, ISO 14001:2015, ISO 9001:2015, and ISO 45001:2018, reflecting consistent standards in energy, environmental, quality, and occupational health and safety management.

With headquarters in Belgium, manufacturing sites in Germany, China, and Brazil, and sales teams around the world, ECO3 puts people at the center. No matter where we are, we strive to create a fair, safe, and supportive workplace for every employee, while ensuring that applicable human rights and labor legislation and regulations (including the UK Modern Slavery Act) are respected. This is documented in our Code of Conduct.
ECO3 requires its suppliers to uphold the same standards, therefore ECO3 requests its suppliers to undersign its code of conduct.
